Is checkerplate food safe?

Picked up this little skillet from Tkmax for a tenner , want to use it on my stove when camping.
It hasn't got a lid so thought about making one from checkerplate and seasoning it in the oven, but am wondering about tetanus ect,any thoughts?

More likely to be e-coli if anything. Well, I've seen pot lids in ali and nobody I know died - have at it, Sir. Given the temps involved I think you'd be VERY unlucky to catch anything. After, I'm pretty sure we've all drunk from fast flowing burns [streams for yoos 'darf saarf' ] without catching anything, I know I have in the past. Best tasting water too, if you choose the place carefully

Most of my pans are aluminium, and you can't get tetanus or e-coli from clean metal surfaces. There was a scare a few years back about aluminium pans and dementure, but like most scares, it seems to have gone away.

We've all forgotten about it (worrying isn't it ?)

Reminds me of the story about the old Scottish farmer who came across a rambler drinking from the stream and said "Ye dinna want tae dae that yon's foo a coo n' sheep pish n' ****" The rambler said "could you say that again using the Queen's English old chap ?" The farmer replied "If you cup both hands you'll get lots more"

Aluminium causes Alzheimers but I would think you would have to use the pan as a condiment

I made the base of a bird table out of aluminium checker plate, I haven't seen the birds going round in circles & falling off the perch

Thats because they cant remember where their nest is

Plain steel or galvanised? I wouldn’t be using anything coated in galv to cook with, though if you got it really hot it would probably burn the galv off. I still don’t think I’d bother...

Prob be fine then I would have thought - it might rust a bit after some heat but should clean off ok.
