Is all wire the same.

Hi All
I am new to Mig welding and am about to start some repairs to my van. I have been on the forum before and received some good advice from you guys I have done a fair bit of practice and now feel confident enough to have a go.
However I now know through the forum that welding panels is difficult and would like to ensure I have the right tools to do a decent job. My question is should I buy wire I only have the spools that came with the welder (new sealey mightymig 150) the wire is 6mm Sealey's own make 1gas and 1gasless. If this is fine then ok if not what brand is best I don't mind paying extra if it helps me do a better job thanks for looking.

This Ultra MAG wire from Weldequip is a good quality wire but it looks like he has sold out. I think Rapid Welding also sell it. Having said that, I use the Sealey wire for stainless steel ocasionaly and that seems OK.

Stay away from no-name wire. Been there, had to throw it out. Lincoln, Hobart, SIF and other name brand wires will work consistently, won't rust, is a constant diameter, meets specs and are are wound better.

Cheap, Chinese wire is a crap shoot.

Stick with a named brand. Sip stuff isn't bad and you can get it from Halfords even on a Sunday. Weldquip sell some nice looking stuff at fair prices.

i use sip quite a bit and have no complaints, as far as i know it is re branded from another suppliers. But it is consistent, both solid and flux core wires are good from them, just about the only good welding item they sell lol

What about the liners that don't last a role of wire they are ok not!
Wire is fine tho tried it one Sunday when I ran out. Was surprised it was decent

I would stik with the solid wire too, the self shielded wires arent the best thing for welding on cars or vans due to a much hotter arc!!! Will just make life more difficult for yourself that way lol

i used flux core on car parts for a while, got quite good at it, then i tried solid wire and never looked back. 0.6mm wire and co2 is much easier to use. Argoshield is even better

What a response guys I would like to thank you all for your time and advice this is much appreciated this is by far the friendliest forum I have used. Just waiting for some dry weather and the high winds to calm down.
