As soon as you touch one, work on one, try to do anything with one that involves the boot, and you, the cat, half the house and the nice lass next door all get a covering of black molybdenum disulphide grease

They are designed to cover everything arnt they.

Don't miss rebuilding them at a grass track meet no where to get the grease off.

Think I'm going for the glue together one short term. It seems complete joints and boots are pretty cheap ( car doesn't do many miles) anyway.
Having part dismantled the other side for the spring and ball joint the rusty fixings ( especially the drop link! ) think I'll use the glue option then maybe replace boot "properly" when we have more time.
Actually had 17 year old grandson here for the week for first driving lessons with a relative. As he's looking at getting a car and doing an engineering course at college I got him to assist with the dismantling - bit more "real world" than the college workshop learning about rust, penetrating oil and the odd skinned Knuckle!

So long as you abrade and then clean the edges with solvent prior to gluing I don't think you'll have an issue.

Yep popped in and asked my friendly tester who confirmed that no leak is pass but did say he'd replace the "correct way" but then he has to warranty his repairs I guess.
Reviews seem to suggest they last OK all down to no grease on the glue joint which makes sense so ill just keep an eye on it.

I had my driveshafts on a bench to replace inner and outer boots.

Was as careful as could be an still got covered in CV grease!.

Take a roll of paper towel out when you do it is my advice.

If it was me trying to do this , however carefull I was I'd soon be covered in grease and super glue
The greasy sticky mess of gaiter would be launched as far as I could throw it

I found lightly greaseing the balls, assembling, and then injecting the rest of the grease keeps down the mess
