My Frontera had lunchbox lockers in the front and rear diffs so they always tested it with a Tapley

Is there such a thing as an "irrational tool desire"? I buy many a thing I don't necessarily need, but want, & I know that it's then there when I either need or want to use it. They cost little to nowt to keep, once purchased.

There is such a thing as an irrational tool desire if it's something you're never going to use (read the first post!) and you'd probably have to re-mortgage your house to buy.

A lot of things people are posting at the moment, they already have or are thinking of buying in the near future - I don't think they qualify, but then perhaps I picked the wrong title for the thread.

For me it's all about being able to fix/repair something when that time arises,.....if you ain't got a certain tool to do a particular job, you are pretty much stuck.

It is amazing how an irrational desire become rational once one has it... Tho the opposite cab apply too.

I've been told I have an irrational hate of greeting cards, my only domestic issue.
I believe they are a total waste of money, better to give a lottery ticket, at least if they win you will be remembered, and maybe get a kickback.

Well last night I was offered a set of smallish powered pyramid rolls for a good price... they weren't on my "needed" list but they have been fully justifed in my mind as a rational purchase

I like Beach Tool Chests, hard to find now but still about in the 80's they where sold as Beach or Auto Pro mainly by independent tool dealers to compete with Snap on, not quite as well made as some of the Snap on ones but still much better than a lot of new stuff. So if you see one let me know.

I've got an irrational desire for rack mount *stuff* . As in, just about anything in a 19" rack type case catches my eye, PCs, amplifiers, test equipment, I don't care, I see it and I want it.

Heavy things we damage that spin fast John like chipper and mulcher rotors, maybe some cranks for some of my silly projects 500kg may not be enough.

of topic, but we had a balancer where I used to work, used for armatures and rotors, magic bit of kit. If you get one8ob you will find it really usefull, and save a lot on bearings and vibration type damage,cracks etc.

So back on topic irrational tools, a lathe ,mill and power saw as would get very little use and absolutely no where to put them. mainly to do those odd jobs other people give you mickey mouse quotes for
