What kind of handrail are you mounting Ali?
May be another option.
Why not get them machined with a standoff
Fix through and plug the holes.
Or are they being fitted the other way around?

Fit the standoff firstSorry, yeah - other side. Looks plain from visible side. Needs to be substantial as the kids will hang off it. A short standoff so it’s not visible at top and bottom is an option though but the wall is in and out and I don’t want to plaster it.
I’ll think about that, thanks. Seems a shame to put a load of holes in a nice piece of hardwood even if they’re plugged, but I haven’t seen the prices yet so it might end up being painted Sapele.Fit the standoff first
Can plane it in to the wall as needed. then fix through the handrail to the standoff
Mines fitted like that and the kids hang off the thing.
Be far stronger than the brackets
Probably won't have the thickness for these but might be something similar to hide fixings underneath.I’ll think about that, thanks. Seems a shame to put a load of holes in a nice piece of hardwood even if they’re plugged, but I haven’t seen the prices yet so it might end up being painted Sapele.
It’s a custom moulding (what Mrs Ali wanted)
