Quick very stupid question! I've just bought a inverter welder do do a few jobs on the car and in the manual it says to ground the actual welder itself.
How do you do this before I get electrocuted!!

I have, using an old arc welder up a set of step ladders, welding a bracket above my head. Got some sort of shock off the casing of the welder, fell off the steps still holding the electrode clamp, pulled the welder down after me which fortunately didn't land on my head But hit the concrete with a bang. No lasting damage caused to me but welder was killed. Health and safety wasn't a big concern with the small firm I worked for back in the mid 90s. Looking back on some of the crazy precarious working up ladders we did its amazing no one was killed!One of the two.
I've never managed to electrocute myself with a welder. Yet.
Do not pile soil on it....
I use the stop/start technique on 1mm and less....doing weld runs won't work usually.disappointed whoever manages to weld metel around 1mm thick with these must have some serious skills
