Hello everybody, this is my first post, what a great forum!
Anyway, I'm looking to buy an inventer welder and was just about pull the trigger on a Lincoln invertec 150s priced at about £450 for a ready to weld kit. Its specs suit my needs I think, it has some features which make welding easier and the invertecs seem to have a good reputation for reliability. Then I came on this forum and now I'm not sure what to get! I read good things about a parweld xti 160 which has specs closer to the invertec 170 for just £200! I like to buy decent tackle that performs well and lasts but don't want to pay more than necessary, I can understand a mechanic having a full snap on tool set as its his job but I couldn't justify paying the extra cost over say Halfords professional or draper expert. I could justify paying the extra cost of the Halfords or draper over a rolson or silverline though if you can get where I'm coming from!? I guess my question is what justifies the extra cost? Is the Lincoln twice as well made seing as the specs are the same? Is the parweld half as good? Or is it a hidden jem? Is one over priced and the other under? Or are there any others around the £400 Mark that are considered better value for money, which I guess is most important? Or is it like asking if Brown sauce is better than red!!
Anyway, sorry for long post and thanks for reading it,
Richard.
P.s. at the risk of starting a heated debate Brown is best!!
