My Lincoln V160-t has finally thrown in the towel, and I’m so out-of-the-loop, as it were, about modern tig welders etc, that I don’t know what to replace it with.
I don’t really want to go down the US machine route again, as parts cost a fortune, and obtaining affordable servicing seems to impossible this side of the pond. So a machine manufactured in the EU would be best.
Could you please advise on what machines, brands to look out for.
What I particularly liked about my Lincoln model is that it had HF start, good pre/post flow ranges, pulse, and remote foot pedal.
Bear in mind everything I do is thin gauge SS (mostly 1.6mm) hygenic, backpurged fittings, adaptors for the brewing industry. Which is why the foot pedal is very useful. I can use the torch trigger fine on bigger projects. But when welding tiny SS parts, where the angle of attack is constantly changing, things can become unnecessarily messy.
I also very rarely go above 50amps. So a machine with a maximum amperage of 160 is ample.
My current machine has never left my workspace, so portability certainly isn’t a priority.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
J.
