Apologies all. I am misleading.

What I should have said was that I'm wiring the live pin in the socket and plugs to 24 volt live and the earth pin in both to 24 volt earth. The neutral will obviously be redundant. The mains sockets are being used purely for their heavier load capacity, hence my use of the word "overkill". Does that make any more sense?

And NO-ONE will be plugging 24 volt gear into 240 volt mains sockets, and vice versa!

(I asked about plugging 24 volt into mains purely out of interest. I have a bad habit of asking pointless questions! Sorry.)

But they dont have a heavier load capacity, they have a larger voltage capacity, ie insulation, they are only 13amps = less than cigar lighter which is 16amps

I assumed he meant to use the earth pin as one conductor and the live and neutral wired parallel as the other.

I wouldn't want to use a cigar lighter plug at more than 5A let alone 16A. Are you sure that's correct, when a Hella plug is rated 10A continuous?

A lot of cigar sockets are fuses at 15A /20A ish
my 300w 240V inverter plugs into the cigar lighter socket that should draw 25A ish

ya mean ya havnt a micro wave on ya bike?? When I'm on me bike I have a micro wave , it's usually with one finger
