This is the Kemppi control panel.
left knob...thickness setting...if you want to weld 0.5mm then just dial it down to 0.5mm...thickness shown on screen....and its set to that thickness.
right knob is a trim fine control...basically fine wire speed control....allows adjustment of the pre-set speed for selected thickness.
lower button select wire type...stainless/mild/braze/alu (not tried the last one) - it's excellent at stainless and braze on the presets...and the mild too of course.
top button...apparently allows manual setup...never used it in 8 years.
Thats pretty much it...gas on and earth on....point at work whilst pulling trigger.
It did cost £1000...had it 8 years...easily sell it for £500....so less than £100 for each year of use. Used Kemppi Minarc mig machines rarely come up on the second hand market from what I've seen....when they do they go quick.
Now I have the experience I think I could use a cheaper welder....but the Kemppi synergetic setup was like having a teacher set up the machine every time I wanted to weld....saved me a lot of time I reckon while I've been learning to mig....
I'm a hobby welder....I don't get a lot of time for projects so the time I do get I want to use as efficiently as possible.
I'm also very keen on the multiprocess capabilities, which leads me to a question. The Jasic 160 is multiprocess, and the autostar 160 is the same machine, but I can't find much info on their TIG capabilities. Does anyone know?
For mainly automotive work, I'm thinking the mb15 will be fine. Is that the right choice or is the 25 a better bet?
I'm not sure what my old machines at work had when I was an apprentice many moons ago, but my current set up has a fixed torch, so either would be better.
