Intermittent issue on my laptop screen

Does anyone know what could be causing this screen issue, this will appear and disappear randomly depending what is being displayed on the screen. Sometimes it will flash for a few seconds and sometimes it will stay longer or till I move the window a bit when it will then go. Its been doing this for as long as I have had the laptop both in windows 7 and now 10. It never really bothered me too much but i'm now thinking about selling it and need to try to fix it.

Does it do it when your browser is closed ?

No, pretty sure its just when a browser is open but its a while since I used the pc so it may do it at other times too.

I’ve had that on my iPad a few times and just rebooted it.

Update the drivers but I suspect hardware. Cable or screen driver.

It did it with both Windows 7 and 10, does that mean I can exclude driver issues?

Screen digitizer probably, they are usually located behind the plastic border along the bottom of the screen. Give it a little squeeze next time it happens and see how it reacts. If it goes away then you can check about replacing it, they are cheap.

It’s usually the ribbon cable attached to the screen being “pinched” by the folding mechanism.

I've done a fair bit of proding and moving the screen which doesn't seem to make any difference. It actually seems like it comes and goes depending what is on the screen and sometimes the mouse position.

It's just doing a full reinstall just now. Once that's done I'll pull the screen off and check the connector.

I removed the bezel and could see this wire going to the LCD.

Just 4 screws holding it in.

Disconnected and reconnected.

But the problem was the same.

So started the squeeze all round perimeter and found that one area was causing the problem.

It was this area that gave the problem, gave it a clean up and squeeze and put it all back together.

Its now working perfectly.
