Interesting places in Yorkshire Area

well on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border it used to run under the middle of Todmorden town hall (before recent boundary) changes and on the top of it, it has these figures

the two people in the middle are linked by friendship (after the war of the roses) and the figure on the left show the cotton industry of Lancashire and the engineering / agriculture from Yorkshire.

The Friends of St Aidans care for 'Oddball', a Bucyrus Erie BE 1150 Walking Dragline Excavator, which was used in opencast/surface coal mining. This giant machine is preserved on the site where it last worked at Swillington, Leeds. Public Open Days throughout the year.

Ok, I´m back so the less I can do is tell here my exprience. The places are in the cities or close to. Forgive me if I make a mistake with the exact location.

Leeds area
I started here my trip. But since my flight landed in Manchester, I made a stop in National coal minning museum. Very interesting.
Industrial museum. Very good, mostly about fabric industry
Bradford Industrial Museumun. Very good, about fabric industry

Halifax
Calderdale Industrial Museum Veeery good. The good thing about this one is you have a looot of volunteers how really know the items and the history and the don´t wait to you asking, they explain EVERYTHING. Also if you ask them, they run the machines for you and explain how they work. It is about different industries, tools, fabric... For example, I had the opportunity of using a distaff and make some yarn. It could sound silly, but I enjoy a lot using this old machines. Also I had the opportunity of meet Optima21.

Manchester area
Avro Heritage Museum. Small but very good. Been able to stay inside the cockpit of a Vulcan was amazing. Also the people who work here give you vey good explanations
Stockport Air Raid shelters. Not bad, but they could give more information or things of that time to fill spaces.
People's History Museum. Interesting

Sheffield area
Wortley Top Forge. Very interesting and ancient. Stablished around 1630. Also a good colection of old machines. Very well preserved
Kelham Island Museum. A very good colection of machines and information about the steel in Sheffield
Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet. Very old and Very well preserved

York
Nuclear shelter. Veeery interesting visit. I love that places and this one is very good
York Minster. Beautiful
And the city is nice in general.

I had / have rellies in Yorkshire. Went there once as a very small child. Skipton I think. Uncle Dick was a sheriff apparently. People greeted him as such. Most disappointed I was about the lack of gun, hat, horse etc.

I remember a place I think called Turpin's Leap, a big whirlpool and rope suspension bridge.
