Have to agree here, I have an ipad, its about 6 years old now. Very good as a browsing tool, battery life not as good as newer ones, easy to travel with, can do most things with it. But for work, etc i find a laptop better.

One thing I dont like with the ipad, is the way it keeps suggesting I use apps when I dont want too.

My Mrs uses a macbook for all her stuff superb apart from the price. I like apple stuff, it all talks to each other easily for us technically challenged types. Dont like the price though!

Yep same here, iPad for general browsing and Looking at stuff. Laptop when on the rd with work and full docking station and big mahoosive screen when working from home

Work are exploring to replace our laptops with iPads, not very practical if you have to type reports etc.

But in court these days there is a big move to go digital, I’ve seen quite a few barristers and solicitors work entirely from an iPad, gone will be the days of carrying suitcases of documents

I've found the Amazon Fire HD 10 to be a fantastic bit of kit, even "for the price".
It's £149 right now but I got it for £99 on one of the frequent amazon days.

There's a handful of steps to get Google / Android Play Store installed but, once you've done that, there's no issue in getting Android apps installed.
People might also complain about the "ad-supported" nature but, for me, that's just an ad displayed when you wake the device up - I don't see any ads displayed when using it.

For £150 I think it's a decent buy, but for £99 I think it's a total bargain.

Amazon fire 7" about 50 quid, brilliant, does everything a computer does. I've got one, kids have them, nigh on indestructible.

Wife and I both use Fire tablets, great little machines. Cameras are not brilliant but for browsing and reading you can't beat them at the price.

if you want lastability buy samsung/a good named tablet they support the latest upgrades for a couple of years eg the latest android 8 or 9(I think had beer or2 )

Apple very good last for 4 year aprox before th iOS is out of date bit after 2/3 years the cpu shows and things are not as quick and you will pay near twice the price compared to the Android system

The backup and restore on the Apple products is 2nd to none Android is catching up but not there yet

My tip for the top is Lenovo tablets good as Samsung on the updates good prices on top specs and once its out of date worth a few quid but you can get a top spec for 250 against 500 for a good Apple

IVe found while working that burdekins that a laptop isnt the best of things to carry

MIneS a 15" screen vista installed wifi has gone in it but cant install a wifi dongle as need to go online to get drivers for it

NOw im interested in a tablet would prefer usb be able to plug onto it and wifi and net capable

I know nothing about its operating system and how new id need it to be for the net im aware if updates stop on it can you still use them to browse on net

PLease note im more of a base unit fan hardly use laptop sonve I bought it

I've got a Samsung, so does the better half. No complaints, although mine runs windows 10 which I actually preffer to android.

We always have Samsung tablets - prob the best on the market.
But we just bought an Amazon 8" screen for about £80 and it was far better than we thought. Just using it for CCTV but will be a great spare to take on holiday.

Well laptop just died whilst watching a film on usb stick
Hard drive or graphics card gone faulty

I wont replace it never realy used it

THough back to films im not a lover of apps
NEveR liked apple gear ive got an ipod and that I installed my own battery in it when last one died

Use google search for films if its free and online im watching it

SOrt of like amazon firestick thats opened up

FIre tablets can you watch free films or is it via there service

IM suspecting the apps will report you

I was issued an ipad in my last job for electrical test certs mostly. I broke it a few times, and a few of the others did too. I found it awkward, fiddly and everything seemed to be done backwards when used to a windows system. Fount it a bit gimmicky. I would not have one myself, but a lot of people do seem to get on with them.

A few years ago I bought a Panasonic toughpad fzg1 Mk2 and I have had no problems with it. Expensive (mine was discounted old stock), but might be worth the extra cost if you can foresee any rough service exposure.

Even I got a kindle fire goes where I want so bought that one instead

It has 10.5.1

Kindle fire is a 7" screen so I'm just trying it out for the moment

It appears to have 6gb hard drive space

well that didnt last long still got tablet but ive gone out and got myself another laptop with windows 10 on it which i dont like

so ive spent enough time going through stuff and using the pe can sort of o other stuff with it

ive got to stage phone is getting full with video and photos that has been taken whilst on a job
