I have a old Volvo 142 with a B20 engine with a single stromberg 175. Recently did a bit of work with the intake before the carb and tuned the carb, she goes much better and runs lovely. The car is very original so not looking at changing the stromberg and it's a good carb which runs really nicely now I can adjust the jet. I have another old Volvo which runs twin SUs and on this one I did a more performance upgrade of the engine and modified the intake manifold to match the cylinder head's inlet ports as per Des Hammill's book; "The SU Carburetor High-Performance Manual". This created a lot of debate at the time on the Volvo Forum whether it was the correct thing to do or not and could see the argument from both sides so have never been sure if this is a good thing or not. The inlet manifold on the 142 with the single carb I believe isn't great so I'm thinking whether I do some porting. Anyone got any experience porting single carb inlet manifolds or anyone know of a good book?
