turbo seals blowing can be caused by blocked DPF

How does it cause the seals to blow.
Forgive my ignorance I’m just curious as a lot of people remove EGR valves which by blanking off wouldn’t that be similar. Cheers

If its the 1.9 16v CDTI engine the thick sludge was probably already there! take the manifold off and clean it. Then get the swirl flap blanking kit off ebay and fit that, they will break at some point anyway!
If you have to take the timing belt off get a new kit WITH water pump as they seize and take out the entire engine when the belt snaps!
If your sons car is pre DPF first praise the Lord then blank off the EGR valve and get it remapped asap.
If it has a DPF the EGR valve will be knackered anyway even before the seal blew so get a new one, they don't last long anyway.
It's a nasty catch 22 with these engines, once something goes out of sync it all goes to ****!
Vauxhall did an extremely bad job with the engine management / emission controls on these!

On the subject of blanking EGR and remapping.
What the possible bad outcome to leaving the EGR fitted but on the pipe where it bolts to the valve making a 1 mm steel plate to fit where the gasket goes and blocking its ability to draw exhaust gas in.
Is it feasible or have I missed something. Cheers

It's a common thing to do, easy if your car is pre 2006 ish and doesn't have a DPF. If it does have a DPF it can be very successfully done by cutting out the guts of the DPF and remapping the ecu BUT I think the stinking (ex diesel loving) government have just tightened up the MOT laws to prevent this sort of thing.

Edit: If you blank the EGR valve off on a later car it will, no matter what the seller tells you, bring on the engine management light! And yes that also means the ones with holes in sold by Fiat / Alfa!
It's just a crap work around to meet emmition regs that just doesn't work!

Second edit: re the bad outcome fitting a blanking plate, the older engines didn't have an egr valve and are running ok.....
My old Toyota Surf's egr valve is in a box in the garage and the truck runs sweet!

Mine was ditched years ago too, and she ran perfectly fine without. Always tested relatively low on emissions too.

Sounds like mine, currently needs the manifold cleaning and flaps welding plus the cambelt is due. Wouldn’t mind having the injectors cleaned and the injector plug upgrade, needs an exhaust flexible too. Might be more economical to break it!

DPF gets blocked causing back pressure in the exhaust so turbo boost can't go anywhere
so blows the seals if the turbo blows seals on inlet side can cause engine to runaway runs on it's own engine oil result is a blown engine

Pete once they get revving you cant stall it revs just over ride the clutch also if it's an auto
