Tell me I’m a naive old fart but I thought that brokers were supposed to act in one’ s best interest ?!
I have a small retail unit that I rent out . Under the terms of the lease I insure the building and bill my tenant. Come recent renewal the brokers quoted the best they could do was up from £500 to £700 with AXA - err what?
After a fairly straight conversation they found a premium for the exact same risk for £475, less than last year, with RSA . By now somewhat disillusioned I said that I would think about it. Direct Line was even more . NFU didn’t bother to reply, but a broker in Manchester rang back at 8.30 am , admitting that he was working from home and in his PJs, said let’s have a look - RSA for same risk for for £410 !
So they find the quote with the best commission it would seem. OK , so I am a naive old fart , but not this time!
