I’m in the process of getting estimates to have a new oil-fired boiler installed.
I think you mean repair your current boiler, triggers broom style?
If it was me, I'd just whack in a suitable like for like "replacement". I think you can still get non-condensing ones.
Even a cheap one should last a good 5-10 years, by which time the world will be a very different place.
Even better if you already have a replacement burner and the jacket is still fine.
Does it actually have a problem at the moment, or is this just contingency?
I'd hate to commit a lot of money to have a heating system upgrade for an oil boiler installation, given the current uncertainty around everything.
