inspection pit question

Reason I asked is that my neighbour has an inspection pit, and quite a bit of water seeps in. Consider putting in a slight slope in the bottom of the pit towards a small sump recess in a corner to trap water, oil, or other fluids; it would make clean up much easier.

Previous house I lived at the bottom of a hill - pit was bone dry - mild steel stored in it did not go rusty.

This house, top of a hill, I had to use tanking slurry on the bottom 2ft of the pit, despite it being built in a visqueen bag . . .

Put covers on immediately after or before a vehicle comes off your pit. You can forget there is a concrete hole there when doing something else, or at least I did.

One of my old bosses did that - his bother's 1930s MG was in for some work and he wandered around an E-type admiring it . . . fell into a big oil drum of used engine oil sat in the un-covered pit the Jag was parked over . . .

I was ok with a few bruises and a bit confused wondering what the hell had happened, it woulda made a cracker of a video clip. But I have heard of a fella meeting his destiny by falling in a pit.
