Could be the sensor is horrendously non-linear past that point or they're rejects from a 'proper' manufacturer, not guaranteed to sense higher than 220.So why do they advertise it as 220? Bit of an own goal?

Well I got one, works fine as far as I can tell. Hit 347 degrees off the lounge coal fire and the workshop oven interior showed 225 with the 'stat set for 200. I imagine the discrepancy is in the 'stat, not the sensor![]()
