Information on electical install just a thought

Ok side garage what was changed to a room years ago there was found to be an electrical fault and the ceiling has been taken down I'm going to change the lighting as the old stuff in there is not bright so thinking of may be 8 spot recessed lights

But I'm seeing it as may be a good chance to add a 2nd fuse box just to supply a car charging point and/or supply to my garage at the end of the garden not looking for large amounts of power down there as its more for parking a car and storage so may be 1 socket and a spur for a couple of lights

The route to the back of the room would be quite short 12 meters max cable would be routed through the ceiling droped to a 2 way fuse box just cheaking what amp fuse board i could run i have 1 spare way in the main fuse box that I could put a 45 or 63 amp mcb I can't get photos at the mo but will do in a day or 2 to help out

This is just an idea while I have the ceiling down so just a thought on if its ever going to be done nows the time for it

Im thinking a 10mm cable as that short of run should easy do a 45 amp main should do but can I get away with a 63 amp

if its coming from an existing domestic fusebox a 50 amp mcb is the maximum they take. 10mm will take a 63 amp mcb if cable is clipped direct which is hardly likely in most cases as its through insulation and in trunking or buried in the wall so its down rated to 50 amp max still enough for sockets lights and a car charger. put a 3 or a 5 way board in the garage as it will need a spare space for an spd unit

Yea what i thought i don't want the cabe clipped to thr wall if I'm doing all that work so through the roof its got to go

Any recommendations on the fuse board ? One i was looking at was the bg at screwfix but that was 45main switch with rcd with 2 spare gangs

What can I realy put in there size wise as a bit bigger will not make much difference to cost i dought

Is the main braker not supposed to be rated lower or the same as the rating of the cable supplying if I'm using it as a 2nd fuse board?
