Indy 500 Racetrack

We are on a mini road trip in USA at the moment and went to stop at the Indy 500 museum today. The museum was closed but even better it was a race qualifying day and we were able to walk in and get tickets in. Very cool to see - track is massive can't see all of it from any one spot



Some noise from the cars as they pass.

I've been round it, foot flat to the floor all the way round, back in 2000*

Museum back then was a slight disappointment, as it was very small. Met some interesting guys in the car park with a front engine Indy racer they'd brought back to its home for photos. Went to the F1 race in 2000 and 2005 - the last one for free as there ended up only being 6 cars in the race!

(* in the tour bus, with my mum, two guides and the driver - it was a quiet day )

bin there, parked pretty much under the seats in some fella,s garden, as you say the place is huge and the noise

I went to Daytona raceway back in 98, no racing on but we went in to watch motorcycle tyre testing going on, some top AMA teams were there - Muzzy Kawasaki (distinctly remember the green bikes), Ferracci Ducati and few others.


The speed was incredible to see, I’d only ever been to uk circuits like Oulton Park where they were obviously fast but tight, twisty tracks. Here they must have been touching 200 all the way round, only slowing slightly for the banking.
