Hi FAAace09. If you can put up with a smaller bottle go for a pub type CO2 bottle. Easer to get refilled, no rental as such (deposit usually) Checkout local beer and wine celler supplies places. Should be aprox 20-25£ deposit then 15-18£ refill. Cheep as chips

Hi ,
You really don't want CO2 for car body panels, an Argon mix will be cost more but will give you much better results. Especially if you are new to welding.

It's £45 for the deposit and £20 for the fill of co2, they're new ish bottles, there 5KG converted fire etinguishers with the dip-tube removed and a proper valve fitted.

Its slightly easier to use argon mix,it gives a much nicer looking weld and more stable arc,however,many of us use co2 for car repairs mostly because of price,it will still give mot worthy repairs and most car welds are ground away anyway
....IF argon mix was £15.75 without rental or deposit I would use it 
but co2 pub bottles go an awful long way and are fantastic value for money.I would either talk to a friendly landlord or google cellar supplies in your area

I use both Co2 at home and Argoshield at work and i can honestly say there isn't any noticeable difference that is worth having a good-quality machine and wire and a clean mask helps the most.

The thing is where ever you get your bottle you will be tied to getting them to refill it. BOC will only refill there bottles same for Air products. Even the "no rental, deposit only" type will only refill there own. That's why I am stuck with an empty bottle from Jawel in Brum. As I would frome time to time do work up there I thought no probs when me bottles empty. Give them a bell to get in a fresh one I go in pay me dosh swap empty for full. Ye till I tried.... Oh sorry we don't have any to hand, can you leave it with us and call back.......Waste of time. Yes argon mix was a nice weld but does not last anywhere near as long as CO2 (cos you get more CO2 for same size of bottle = more welding time) went back to CO2. Even made a point of getting two CO2 bottles from two different suppliers incase one goes t*ts up (well the pub industry is going down the pan)
