and are competent machinists
I asked two people on forum to price making replacement firing pins for my miroku clay buster, got really and I mean stupid silly quotes ,one saying hardening these pins was ridiculous monies( heat and quench tip, maybes 30 seconds) so although I agree most everyone is helpfull and love the forum from personall experiance when it comes down to it didnt get anywhere. and got the impression they were using the forum , suprised and realise they are nt straight forward but my brother ,retired detail bench fitter reckoned with right machines a doddle to make, unfortuantly the firm he worked for doing aero prototypes went years back. hopefully ive attatched a pic to show these massise engineering projects !If you can't find anyone local, and are happy to post, then I'm sure there's a bunch of people (including me) who would be happy to help
That's a shame, pm me a PDF of the dimensions and I will have a crack at it I think that sometimes it is the subject matter. If I made one for you and it broke when you used it, you would be (quite rightly) upset. The damage to your equipment could be expensive to rectify. Most hobbyist don't have insurance and probably would rather not take the risk? Just a different perspective, not a criticism of your post by any means!I asked two people on forum to price making replacement firing pins for my miroku clay buster, got really and I mean stupid silly quotes ,one saying hardening these pins was ridiculous monies( heat and quench tip, maybes 30 seconds) so although I agree most everyone is helpfull and love the forum from personall experiance when it comes down to it didnt get anywhere. and got the impression they were using the forum , suprised and realise they are nt straight forward but my brother ,retired detail bench fitter reckoned with right machines a doddle to make, unfortuantly the firm he worked for doing aero prototypes went years back. hopefully ive attatched a pic to show these massise engineering projects !

Do you have a sketch or drawing of what you require?Sorry, I should have said.
The article in question is a optical adaptor to help attach a camera to a microscope.
I'll bear that in mind! I just realised the last time I used them was in 1994 when I rebuilt my TR6! They did a good job then.yup, dont know what was going on but I certainly wont use/recomend them
Exactly. Heat treating can be as much a science as a black art and without knowing the original specifications of the miroku part, who would want to take a chance where that kind of energy is involved. Just the firing pin flying forward must be a fair few ft.lbsThat's a shame, pm me a PDF of the dimensions and I will have a crack at it I think that sometimes it is the subject matter. I was asking for them to be made from silver steel, so no hardening needed and £70 just to harden a matchstick is taking the mick , its not going on the space shuttleExactly. I’d say them pins want to be a ground finish or certainly very high finish, and after hardening no doubt they will need tickling back into tolerance, which can only be done with a cylindrical grinder.
I think £70 is about right. Gotta be two hours work in them if not more.I was asking for them to be made from silver steel, so no hardening needed and £70 just to harden a matchstick is taking the mick , its not going on the space shuttle
Well yeah that’s probably about right if they were taking them for heat treat.no, that was the price just for hardening, not the making!
especially with some one like me.... , again my apolagies every one
for some reason I missed your reply ,kind offer, I will pm you. thanksThat's a shame, pm me a PDF of the dimensions and I will have a crack at it I think that sometimes it is the subject matter.
