Well, after coming out of work in 2018 for a few months, I reviewed my outgoings and was quite frankly shocked! It makes you realise how much you’re actually doleing out every month when you’re earning a steady wage.
A couple of monthly loans I could do without saw me sell my beloved MT10 to cover the total and get my outgoings down…….and aside from my cafe racer project I was now bikeless. I could get another ten at some point, besides it was paid for and only used 3 times since the start of the year.
Work picked up again and now a little more flush I thought it was time to get my junkie like twitch under control everytime I saw a bike
I found an add locally for a down and out FZR600 4JH for a reasonably good price.
I viewed the bike, told the guy I had a few bits for sale and would be back in a couple of weeks should they go. I wasn’t committing myself to stupid costs to get back on two wheels. The guy enquired as to what I was selling and the next thing you know I was bereft of a couple of guitars, a pair of new bike tyres and a used Sip Mig (which cost me £50) along with £200 of my Christmas box from my mum and dad and was now the proud owner of a Burgundy metallic relic from Yamahas super sport heyday before the advent of their R Series bikes.
Things were looking up!
Along with the bike was all his FZR spares from the previous ten years, which included 2 engines, 2 tanks, a swingarm, pair of forks, 3 wheels, carbs, CDI, loom, starter, lots of brackets and attachments, yokes, clocks, lights and many other bits which if I am honest would cost what my stuff owed me without the bike!
Here it is in its resplendent ‘pink’ bodywork on the day I viewed it!
