I have no idea who Uncle bumblewotsit is, but if “worth a punt” doesn’t translate into Italian it means worth buying at that sort of money. It’s a slang term, an expression if you understand me. I love his videos ,a very funny and someway educational engineer who runs a very successful YouTube channel
In first place I hate it because he toar a part tools and left them there like garbage but fortunately I understood why he does that and now I wait for his videos
I often have difficulty to understand jokes probably because the language distances , not really even Italians have to explain me jokes sometimes

Back on topic, if there is some way you can reserve yourself one of those welders when they are announced in italy id do it if you want one i expect they will disappear fast, a lot of professional firms where i live buy the good lidil stuff to lighten the load on thier very expensive pro gear, so it lasts a bit longer. As one of the joiners i know said too me that they buy thier miter saws when ever they are in as if they only last month they more than pay for themselves plus they get a new one if it breaks and they can keep thier good saw for all thier good work.

Usually happens this
I discover something I like which will be sold at Lidl (first step)
Hype increase and I make research about
(Second step)
By doing research I found points which don't convince me too much like in this case the wire feeder . (3rd step)
I slowly rationalize what I'm studying about and I end up refuse buying it (4th step)

It's more likely what will happen with this welder because various reasons
COVID19 crisis
No too much money to spend
I have to get driving license and I'm 2 months without touching a car ,my practice license will expire on June 3rd and to extend it I have to give money , have other lessons etc
Driving schools still be closed till may 18 and they can't teach till ? We don't know when will be possible to have driving lessons
I've already spent around 1000 euros for and I will probably have to restart again from zero
And more in topic 200 euros for this welder are starting to feel like too much money for it in my opinion because I would to replace the torch and the cables things I shouldn't do spending 105 euros more getting a better unit always manufactured in China but with more amps and without the 3 years warranty
And I seriously need a plasma cutter because I am already able to weld if I need but I'm not able to gouge

Too many things are going on in this period of my life
I made the thread because someone could need a welder like this and I was wondering about buying one myself but I've slowly rationalize that it could probably not match my needs , but I'm still not convinced because I need to buy tools often because I'm affected by the "ITD" syndrome

Unfortunately sometimes Lidl discontinues production of some of theyr products because too many incompetent people buy them and after breaking them because they can't use them properly claim their money back
Some products being killed this way
Example the torque wrench , they don't sell it anymore ,the band saw is another one ...
Going buying tools at Lidl is more like joining world war one , you drive there or take the bus to there , bayonet onto the rifle and assault to the tools sector .
I've seen people fighting for a drill and I'm not joking

The 12v mini grinder and associated 12v system are excellent... I use the mini grinder extensively for fine bits of bodywork. I'll get another one to turn into a roloc sander I think.

I have 3.5 and 4 metre torches. I have never seen a 2m Eurotorch. There are situations where it would be handy to have such a short one.

I have the very first version, it has been an excellent tool. Going to stock up on another one of the new type and some 4aH batteries, and probably the dual charger too...

I didn't think about that , TBH a guy who works for Lidl said me that this is being designed to weld alluminium so the short torch could being chosen to reduce feeding issues

He could be right, the German advert says the machine comes with 200 g of aluminium flux-core wire ( what is that ..!! ? ), and "a 1mm torch tip for aluminium is pre-installed".

Miss translation I believe
200 gr alluminium wire spool
200 gr flux core wire spool

1mm alluminium /flux core drive roller

I'm sure about the 2 spools , not so much about the drive rollers

Weighs <8Kg, has "stufenlosem Stromstärke-Drehregler" = it is an inverter.
Earth cable is 1.2m - shortest ever ?
MMA electrode holder and TIG torch not included.
Gas cylinder is inside !

Check out the picture of the MIG wire routing inside! At least someone has thought about putting the cylinder somewhere rather than the afterthought brackets most of the hobby welders have. I'd get one if/when they make it over here.
