In Car Bluetooth Audio

I’ve got a 63 plate 520 BMW F11, it has the business sat Nav and Bluetooth phone but no audio

I’ve had a look around the web and the car can possibly be recoded to give enhanced Bluetooth to give audio capability, but this frieghtens me as the electronics are mind boggling and it’s not my strongest area

What options are there that will give BT Audio steaming and allow most/ all functionality of car controls ?

Newer stuff usually means something like a Cleansweep to get a clean signal from the factory HU as removing it causes many problems, you can have a bt receiver as an input and keep it seperate but mix it in

Not sure if that model uses MOST, of it does you may be able to get an aftermarket interface to replace the cd changer

Don’t know what MOST is and no CD changer in mine

MOST is a fibre optic network that controls many and various things, some bmw’s are rammed full of it

My mate is a bmw and audio geek so I’ve asked him

The man that knows says the best option is to buy the factory bluetooth unit and get BMW to code it, this may not be cheap but it will be factory. It may just need recoding but he thinks the phone unit and the audio ones may be different

Other options include Parrot or Dension units, again quite spendy and probably complex to fit. The car will use MOST and its intergrated deeply into the car, including things like indicator noises (alltho you might not miss them on a BMW )

As per gaz, does it have USB input? May be easier to either use a phone USB cable or you can probably get a bluetooth to USB player gadget?
