Grand job. Make sure you’re running those rods electrode negative, and keep the arc very tight. That’ll reduce the wee bit of spatter. Although you need a shallow(er) travel angle with 6013, don’t lean the rod too far back in the direction of travel. Cheers ill try them. Jefferson welding does 6013 rods that are blue too iv never tried them though
Was thinking of buying a rod oven to dry the 7018 rods there nicer use than 6013 I think
I'll pick up a box Monday hopefully. Did you ever try murx rods

No need to buy a rod oven for home hobby welding. I keep most of my rods in homemade pvc contaners in an old fridge with some desiccant and most of them are 7018 and 7016.
If needed I have an old electric oven to heat them up but the low hydrogen bit is not really important for non coded work.
