Yes still going strong. I've run it on 1.6, 2.5 and 3mm rods all with good results.

I've been looking at there 170 mig but just can't justify it currently.

@spaffmonkey do you use use dcep or dcen. I usually use my r tech mig for MBA which I run dcep no problem of siftrode 6013 rods. I finally got to use this little machine a few weeks back and couldn't get on with it, simple t joint but arc violent, wandering alot and weld pool would mostly only use to one side of the joint, packed it up and used my other machine, had a spare bit of time today to have a look at it again, I swapped the leads and ran it dcen and its lovely now, smooth arc and everything seems more controlled and slowed down

Can't believe how cheap & compact these are!

My Parweld inverter wasn't cheap or expensive, But it's definitely double the size

I run mine electrode positive. Being such cheap machines they mite of wired plugs wrong.

Used my welder again today but had the earth clamp clipped on the metal workbench and the weld quality was dreadful. Moved the earth clamp onto the work piece and you would of thought it was a completely different machine.

The earth clamp on my welder isn't great. I've burnt s hand full of rods and it gets hot very quickly. I've dug out another clamp from my box of bits and its bigger than the machine itself

A kemppi minarc costs under £500 to buy now.
The one at work has been used for 10 years + and had over 100kg rods through it.
So that equates to £50/year or £5 per kg of rods... But its still going strong...probably for another 10 years. £2.50 per kg sounds cheaper than a throwaway.

And what happens when your throwaway welder breaks on a job?

It's OK, let's all just keep supporting the Chinese economy by buying the cheapest nastiest tools

There is a 200 amp version which is the same size it seems interesting, wonder what it could do.

I looked at those Robbie, they lose a bit of portability because they need a 32amp supply and they would also make a small genny grunt a bit.

True but.......even the bean counters at manufacturing giants in Germany have set up production plants in the East in a bid to be competitive. We unfortunately are so far behind we don't stand a chance of producing tat at a competitive rate.
