impossible hinge pin repair ..on car door

heres some pics of a hinge i need to fit a new pin on , ive done them before on other models with better access ...theyre in there really well lol

it has splines at one end so it needs belting out from left to right as you see it on the screen , yet i cant get a decent swing at it

any ideas folks ...door can be on or off the car, off seems easier but then it moving around wastes alot of the hammer blow

the moving part with the bolt hold will replaced too if i need to muller it

Drill and tap the right hand side or tack weld a stub on to use a slide hammer to pull the pin out.

hmm tapping isnt a bad idea , i dont think theres room to get a drill in there straight though

I think with a bit of care the pin could be knocked out from where you show your punch in the third photo. The punch shown could be used against the edge of the pin until its flush with the bracket, then a smaller diameter punch to knock it through the housing. As long as it isnt too tight it should work. The punch would be in line with the pin but it will still work. Done something very similar recently.

would there be any gain if i could get someone to heat and bend a bar/punch to better the shape

looks like a lower hinge so it's been knocked in from the top. I would suggest that the head is larger(top hat shaped) I would make a "fork" like a ball joint splitter, skelp that under the head then hammer upwards on the tool.

Protect the surrounding area if necessary,damp clothes etc, looks to me like you could weld a 10mm bolt minus head onto the pin then slide a sleeve over it and draw it out,

theres no head on them ...top end is knurled slightly ..god knows why theyd not fall out

how much of a weld do i need to take a serious belting with a club hammer ? my thoughts are id snap it off before i more it

you dont need a head on the pin for a bolt type separator

Weld a bolt on the r/h end, with head lopped off. Slip steel tube over, then some sturdy washers, then a nut. Tighten nut / wind the sucker out. Maybe...

oh and edit to say ..the moving part will be replaced too so that can get mullered

you can buy a tool from machine mart part no040210262 its a cht262 auto door hinge tool.
have used them a few times but pin needs to be hollow.

Need a decent weld on the chopped bolt, taper the end a bit where you'd melt it. Could always chop the 'stud' off afterwards, reuse the pin, if it weren't too knackered.
