Imperial bearings and fabric seals

Sooo, those that saw, I bought a linisher off someone on here over the weekend. The linisher has imperial bearings which I know the size of and also it has fabric seal caps. The caps are about 5mm thick.
I’m the bearings currently are open bearings but I’m thinking about fitting sealed just not sure what to do with the 5mm caped seals.
Would is there anywhere I can get them? The bearing od is 1 7/8
Or do you think I’m better re fitting open bearings and using seals like them?

I would fit sealed bearings and just put the felt bits back to keep the dust out.

type in bearing transmission supplies on google just take the bearing in and they will match it. if u use sealed u may need a spacer making. is the one u have a felt and steel washer .just use that

Give them a call. 2 years ago I needed wheel bearings and felt seals for a old hay cart. They cam up with a good modern replacement. Plus new old style units.

Plus prices are good.

The bearings will have No on them any bearing Co will be able to help, Simply Bearings had stock of the imperial ones I required (angular type).
Usually a No on inner & outer tracks
Free standard delivery as well

@KimB when you get a minute can you tell what speed the motor on yours is please.

I have a very similar one with a 3ph but the motor is caked in paint so I can't see the speed. I'm going to replace the motor with a single phase and wondered whether it should be a 1400 or 2800.

What are the cups made from? If the cups, (one or two per bearing?), are just for holding the felt and nothing else, just cut thicker/larger felt to take their place. If the cups are to stop the bearing wandering around in the housing, just use thick leather in place of the cup & felt.

Kim i just got fabric seals for my pipe bender from Pirtek (Watford branch ) very helpful
