Honestly I've found out that even clones are pretty good.
As said above just seek for less Chinese looking one you'll be fine.
I'm using and abusing mines and the DTW 300 clone is a fair compromise for what?
Less than 30 euro actually.
I run mine on both fake Makita batteries and 88V lxt pattern batteries.
I use them constantly I have grinders too and you can't really be happier for the price.
The angle grinder is pretty powerful I've used it recently with a 6Ah battery to weld prep a bunch of joints using a ceramic flap disc.
It like using an 800W corded grinder but you need to change battery after 20 minutes roughly but you can actually do something with it.
The die grinder I still have to review as same it's pretty bit of kit, it works, doesn't stall and keeps RPMs high enough.

Is the low voltage gubbins inside the Makita battery or should I not use the fake ones with good batteries?

The genuine batteries have low voltage protection.
Don't bother with the fake batteries, they are rubbish.

I bought the bignsmall guns Fakitas for mobile use, the big 3/4” drive one does what it says on the tin and will take off big truck/plant wheel nuts, small one not so good but handy to keep in the truck and it shares the batteries from the big one. I don’t think either produce the proclaimed gadaggars , never believe a Chinese angler.

Unfortunately after a quick search it doesn't look like they are being faked yet.

There is a version with a hole in the drive square that takes 1/4 screwdriver bits so it can be used to drive screws.

If you use genuine batteries you might find you get better torque.

My big gun doesn't like 3ah batteries. It will not work properly on them if they are not fully charged.

In my mind I think might as well have the 3/8s one because dont adapters and extensions reduce torque like 25% each or something silly? Small one for 3/8 sockets, big one big for big sockets. I suppose though a smaller bolt needs less torque, so the adapter loss might not actually matter as long as you can get the bigger size gun in where you need it.

Or you might get a genuine 3/8" anvil to swap it .
But as said earlier clones not compatible with Makita batteries, just clones like the DTW family

I don't believe it really needs to discharge it's maximum torque, it's 3/8" drive, nothing is going to be torqued at obscene amount of Nm in the bolt size 3/8" sockets will fit

Talking about impacts though - this halfords set of sockets is really good. Granted I only used them with kit air gun so far, but deep and shallow, both 3/8s plus 1/2 for 80 quid with a trade card
