Impact wrench - how many Nm?

As I said in my previous post the van was still in the car park. It wasn’t my breaker bar , a workmate had just purchased it and saw me about to remove a ball joint on a VW type 3 and said try this. I did buy my own in the late 70s early 80s which was still going strong at least until the mid 90s when a company that was one of my customers asked if I had a particular part number snap On breaker bar which I had , they asked if they could have it if the brought me a new one , they were a bit vague about why , but they were a forensic insurance investigating company .

Just had chance to watch this. Sounds like I need to avoid the newer compact versions.

I found the older gen high torque non-compact for 200 quid. Still a lot of dough for relatively occasionsl use. I'm going to have another go with a breaker bar tomorrow. All 16 nuts over 4 wheels are tight as hell but I only need one wheel off to do a spot of welding behind it, then I can take it to my mates garage for the rest of the nuts, I'm pretty sure he has some monster impact wrenches.

I'll probably end up getting one at some point, I'll see what I think in the morning, I've hit the tool budget quite hard recently......

Have you considered the cheapie Torque Multiplier route?
I bought one years ago & carried it in my old LDV Convoy. The wheel nuts on that are FT - you'd break a 1/2" Breaker Bar trying to loosen (even if you know the nearside are LH Thread ).
You'll do no F1 speedy wheel changes with one - but a 1" Drive Torque Multiplier works very well for very little money
