If you can spend the money you can't get better than Milwaukee for impact wrenches, but for hobby work you'll quite possibly find the prices eye watering. Unless you can justify or really want the best for occasional use a cheaper one might make sense.

Dewalt 899 is another one to look at if you want heavy duty torque.

If you have a drill or other tools have a look if the same manufacturer has one so you buy just the bare tool.

Milwaukee very powerful but I wouldn’t say they’re the best.

My dads got the impact driver and ⅜” impact wrench.
Daily use.
Both look like crap, and the forward and reverse is playing up on the impact driver.
You have to unplug the battery and plug it back in.

If you’ve ever watched AvE on YouTube he splits a ⅜” Milwaukee down and they’re a bit light duty for the power they out out.

But you makes your choice.

Do you buy a snap on and it last 6 or 7 years at £350 (body only) or do you pay £150 and get a Milwaukee that might last 3 years?

I have not used their 3/8 but nobody seems to be able to better their 1/2 ones.

Everyone I know with a Snap on gun who had tried Milwaukee regrets their choice. Also, Milwaukee give a three year warranty whereas SO are really trailing behind on cordless gear with only a one or two year warranty.

Milwaukee impact wrenches do sometimes go wrong but it doesn’t appear to happen often, they certainly don’t have a bad reputation for it and a three year warranty isn’t bad.

Snap on impacts don’t go wrong though Bill. They just don’t mate.

The Milwaukee do have more power, they are lighter due to brushless. But I’ve used some of their other tools and they are junk, like B&Q own brand junk. Like their power file and the oscillating multi tool. Carp.

Metabo ****** all over milwaukee, they just don’t make a 3/8 or ½” impact unfortunately.

I bought a milwaukee fuel 1/2" mid torque,best thing I have done in years,saved hours upon hours so far earned its keep, did the front wishbones on my iveco no problem.possibly not the best build quality,battery at 5ahr really good. best of all I didnt break my back with a 3/4 breaker bar with scaff pole and spend half an hour undoing one nut..as for brands its horses for courses really,depending how much use and how hard you use it relative to cost.

also got 2x milwaukee's, im a home user but wanted something that will undo everything i want it to , not just pre loosened wheel nuts

as said the 5ah battery lasts forever..easily more than a day pottering about

another bonus is if you decide to sell they get good money and sell easy...vs you will have to give away a homebase special

edit...if anyone local has one to demo , they sell them selves , i tried a mates and wanted one instantly

Looks like they've dropped the Clarke 24V version I've got, probably battery technology has moved on and 18V is comparable, but I've been happy with mine.

Ita really no comparison, a 3/4" impact driver and 9Ah battery and i work in a garage, only nag is i keep breaking tips on snap on 3/4"to 1/2" adapters... They dont last longrr than 6-7 months! The impact wrench is r years old, cannot fault it even if it looms like crap with all rubber peeled off!

I use the big Milwaukee every day
Only problem i have it the weight of it
It has never refused a c/v nut or a crank pulley nut
Much better (more power) than the snap on gun i had
The battery's also fit the full range of 18 volt drills grinders ect
3 year warranty with unlimited use is a no brainier for professional use
