Back again gents. After solving the gas leak fault, gushing out of the torch handle. Went out and got set up to do a bit of welding on the Cortina,now the wire speed has started to give grief. This is the speed

If you pull some wire from the tip and try to weld, can you strike an arc and does the wire melt away normally?
With a new speed control pot and a motor that has tested OK, the remaining faulty areas are the motor power supply and the speed control circuit. Power is probably a small DC-DC converter running from the main inverter welder power bus, and providing 24v DC. The speed control will be a pulse-width modulated circuit, with one or two medium power transistors on finned heatsinks. I think both these circuits will be on the Control board, rather than the inverter Power board. However, with no circuit diagram it will be very hard to diagnose any fault. Obviously, start by checking for loose connections, poorly-seated plugs and board-to-board harnesses, and burnt components. You would then need to trace PCB tracks and identify components on the board between the connectors for the wirefeed motor and the speed control pot, in order to reverse-engineer and then debug the circuit. This would be very difficult. Is the machine still under warranty? Even if not, try contacting Sealey, they are usually helpful with spares and after-sales support.
