I'm torn....

...between giving my engine bay a colour coat now, within the 48-72 hour overcoat window as per the epoxy primer tds, or leaving it until I iron out the few minor blemishes. If I leave it a few more days until i'm off work again, what's the procedure? It came out of the gun a little 'mottled', but it seems to sand flat easily enough with 400 (although it plugs-up the paper quickly). I have some toyota red 2k that came with the PROJECT , which I'm going to use.... also some clear acrylic (I think - left over from my days as a "car medic"/smart repairer). I'm thinking that if I scuff all of the bay lightly with 320, deal with any blemishes (ie. bits that I missed when filling), and reseal just those areas, I should be able to go ahead with the colour...

If you leave it simply flat the surface then on with the top coat

The epoxy will sand better if you leave it, so if you need / want to sand it, give it time.

let it cure , sand any issues with 320 /400 , red scotch the good bits , paint as planned
