Hi everyone
Just few minutes ago the son of the fabricator friend of mine (is dead) sent me some pictures , and I'd like to buy something because he wants sell everything ,I can't buy everything .
So I'm pretty in conflict with myself because I've not all that money and I don't know what to do
In the first image there are two french style cross pin hammers I'd like to have
Various squares which my friend made in his shop , and those would be great to have because he built them .
two black AMF "T" handle Allen key just because I already have some of them in my tool box

Second picture
An acesa pipe wrench the blue one (my father has one)
A Beta pipe wrench (orange one) both 1"½
A stilson pipe wrench which could be superego
Various files
A thing to scribe
A shortened sledgehammer

Next picture an FZA or Ariex bench vise
Probably is 125mm and surely forged steel (useless to say that I want it)

Last image those are HSS Co hole saws (useless for me right now but extremely expensive to buy )

I need help to choose I would like to have everything is shown here but I really can't afford all this stuff
The squares are something I have to take because are homemade and surely something my friend would like to give to me .
I miss him he was a great man , every time I needed advice on various arguments he was ready to help and teach
Unfortunately the cancer took him away

I could do that , but it's something I wouldn't because I like to pay once and be out of debts.
I am never in debt .
Example I have 99 euros and I want to buy something that is 100
I do prefer wait for the missing euro than have to give it later

personally , id see if there is a lay away deal to be done ,
if not id go for the hammers and the vise ,, both will last you a life time.

I'm very upset ,he wants 100 Euros just for the two hammers
This makes me angry because I helped him a lot for free when his father died

This makes me think to the phrase
"Fai bene e vai in galera"
Which is common to say here and means
"do well and go to jail"

It's not exactly family friendly the exact meaning of the original Sardinian phrase which looses lot of it's original meaning translating it in Italian (up above) and then in English which is not really easy to do

Not sure who would pay 100E for two second hand hammers, so if that's his attitude it doesn't sounds like he'll be selling anything any time soon.

Only things there worth paying money for (IMO in your situation) would be the vise and the files.

Even those would be not worth
He knows that the vise is an FZA or Ariex one and it costs around 300 euros new
The files I don't know the manufacturer they could be just cheap ones
I would like to get something just to have and use them in memory of my friend

Politely decline his derisory offer and leave him with the lot - having to bargain with the son for bits & pieces of your late friend's tools would tarnish his memory, at least for me.

I agree with you my friend could have killed his son for this offer .
I only regret I didn't accept to take a needle gun when my friend offered it to me as a gift
I was 17 he was healthy and I didn't want to make him think that was just a convenience friendship

I bought my hobby Mat milling machine from a bloke in the village that passed away.

Agreed price and then went to collect, widow put up the price by £40 quid.

Machine was immaculate and hardly used so I payed up the extra sondoolies

The middle man with me was most upset and annoyed. He spotted a large box of bits

So when we got the machine home, he phoned up the greedy widow that the machine is useless without the box of bits

He went back to collect, no money involved

It’s contained all sorts of collets, chucks, clamps, jacks etc etc etc and two angle plates. Worth way more than the machine

Moral of the storey, it never pays to be greedy

I know its going against the grain but I wouldn't buy anything off him. just let him try and sell it all himself. as a given instant a vice costs 200 quid new. second hand u can pick them up for 50 quid. so it don't matter if it all cost new 500 quid be lucky to get 100 for it second hand . if I realy wanted that lot 75 quid topps and that's being generous

Tell him he is half his father..knowing you had a good friendship with his father and giving the value of the bits which realistically is not a lot as tools go then he should be saying "take what you want as my father would of liked that"...greedy youngster

Might have sentimental value to you though.
Offer him 100 for the lot and walk away when he refuses. If he comes back later your new offer is 50...
