im confused about gas

Hi there im confused about how the litres of gases are worked out , i've been looking at getting some argon mix but to start with i looked in machine mart and according to their dispossable bottles they have 110 litres in them :confused:

so why do boc big bottles say stuff like 14 litres on them :confused:

110 litres of gas total=11 minutes use @10 ltr/min
14 litres compressed to 200bar=5-6 hours run time welding

The 110 litres is how much gas you'll get at atmospheric air pressure. The 14 litres for the BOC is the volume of the bottle. How much gas in them is dependent on the pressure. Take the number of bars and multiply it by the bottle volume to get the amount of gas.

thanks guys , i have only just started up welding properly ( have been using a gassless mig for 10 years ) i seen the error of my ways and the jobcentre put me on a course so got a bs now and invested in a clarke 220 te so all this gas stuff is new to me , so if any1 can help me with what flow rates i should be using for different materials i would be grateful,. thanks again guys
