Hey folks,
I've been shopping for a TIG for a long time.
Done a fair bit of MIG welding in the past.
DIY use. No urgent need for one but the time is coming.
Would be mostly small jobs - Motorcycle subframes from Alu, small misc brackets, larger (by comparison) fairing brackets, Tanks, Pipes, garden related stuff for the Mrs, nothing hugely demanding in terms of power or that require long welds. The biggest job I imagine I'd be doing would be fillet weld on 10mm thick 6063. Again, not long, maybe 6 inches, tops, but penetration might be a bit of an issue with the lower powered welders.
Like loads of others out there, been looking at an R-tech - Probably the ACDC, digital 170. Part of the attraction is the amount of reviews/etc there are out there on em. Gives you more of an idea of what you're buying. However I'm quite taken by this Inverter Fusion ACDC 250

Sure, no pedal, but you seem to get more bang for your buck. (more amps, Mix TIG, etc...)
I've had one of their plasma cutters for over 10 years and it's still like new, but for the life of me I can't find much information on these, apart from just the odd forum post saying 'oh, IFL, yeah, proper kit' etc..
I don't have 3-phase, which really limits your 2nd hand options, and I don't feel comfortable dropping more than say, 500 quid on a second hand TIG with no warranty/backup, unless it seemed like an excellent deal/good seller.
Anyone know anything about these I-Tech TIG's? Even their website is a bit naff. I had to ask for a spec sheet, and that hardly had any info on it.
Manual here, which is a bit better.

For a complete rig I'd hope to keep it around £1500 if new
Any opinions/recommendations appreciated.
