so i went and bought one of these gizmos. Id love to say, its a beauty, but, to be honest, i havnt a clue! - i can say it works )
Steve from weldequip, is a legend in my eyes. a total legend. thank you Steve.
I worked as a mig welder for three years, 2 different companies, and in both cases it was on a jig, continous welding. three minutes welding, piece off the jig, another piece on, three minutes welding, and so on. in this way ive racked up several thousand hours mig welding.
however, i left that line of work 11 years ago, and havnt touched a mig machine since. so, im not quite back at point A, but not far off it.
ok.
So. I got my dad round to set up the gas, cos i was unsure of myself, so got that part out the way safely, though he tell me argon is not explosive, so thats good.
so i had a go. here are some pics.
i know the settings arent quite right. im wondering if you guys can tell me what is better, tbh i was just twiddling knobs and chancing different settings. the weld above was with these settings
i recall two things. the sound. the industrial machines sounded more ferocious. like a continuous tearing sound, like cloth, fast.
the sound on this, is more like a puta puta puta putaputaputa puta puta puta
lol. reads ridiculous i know. best way i can describe it.
_______________
2nd thing is, when i was working, i was just told to set the three knobs on the machine on, 2, 3 and 4 - though thinking about it now the 4 might have referred to the gas. - and 2 knobs..
any help or insight appreciated. im using 0.6 mm wire. the machine came with 0.6 and 0.8 mm rollers for the wire feed.
and spare tips, which im stoked about. i need me some miscellaneous cleaning tools, I've realised.
