...... just be aware that materials prices are climbing pretty much across the board. Timber is the dramatic increase at 50%+, most other stuff from cement through plasterboard to fixings is seeing an 8-15% increase.

I imagine there will be quite a few contracts revisited in the coming weeks/months.

Ordered a.load of c24 this morning. Cheaper than it was 12 months ago after a quick comparison.

I spoke to our supplier this morning, I was told that all fresh timber stock was getting a 51% increase. They had been moving it by the lorry load up until a few weeks ago but it's slowed down since and all the new stock is coming in at the new price.

Bagged or board plaster is +12% from the merchants, all the plastic roofline goods are +8% and so it goes.

I had to email the customer we're currently working for today and give her the news. The price increases are going to add five figures to the job

everythings going up ive noticed a 10 percent increase on some goods they have to get money back from somewhere for all the extra work and hassle to stay in business

Bought a pallet of 18mm OSB today for £18 each...been told the next pallet will be at least £26 and may go higher. Also picked up 2 pallets of a specialist torch-on felt which was orded in May

That's not good. Again 17 quid a board quoted today and I only wanted 14 not a pallet

The price rises are bad enough, but not warning people they're coming makes it worse. Imagine the customer's reaction when they're told that the quote they were given days/weeks ago has gone up by that sort of amount.

OSB3 plus as you know prices are regional based and not national.

It seems to be covid effects. Reduced production and transport issues causing shortages, added to a huge increase in DIY purchase and a surge in builing as firms try to clear plots ASAP. Add that to the environmental surcharges which came in at the start of the year and it's hitting wallets.

We're part way through a big job, so getting a five figure hike mid-way through a job without a problem, spec change or anything they weren't quoted for isn't going to go down well.

Fella went into one of my local roofing suppliers end of last week and bought the entire stock of 4mm sanded torch-on which was 10 pallets... angled concrete ridge tiles are becoming more valuable than lead now in weight as the big 3 tile manufactures have no stocks whatsoever. Going to be a hard winter i can feel it in my wallet already

Not timber but for a while now Barrat Steels price have only been valid for 48 hours!

Supply and demand in action at the minute. There is no supply so the prices are up. Covid has dried up supply as so many places arent operating at full capacity. Materials that we could order on the Monday and delivered Tuesday morning are now taking 4-5days longer to get to the sites.
