I was trying to assemble a piece of work made up of lots of small components that could not be layed on the metal workbench.
My return lead is a big cumbersome thing. I needed a smaller more flexible one.
I tried using a gear cable off a pushbike, held it onto one of the parts to spot weld it on. (see calf thread in projects).
OOooh aaaargh, bloody hell thats hot, cue little clouds of smoke off my left hand and a thin yellow burned line across my palm, round my index finger and across the next two fingers.

Brilliant one, laughing and yelping simultaneously.

Oh, I say chaps, a thin steel wire has more resistance then a thick copper one and produces heat.

Thinks to himself, I was trying to make a jump lead. Oh!! thats what I need and borrowed one.

I've been known to get hold of mig wire with the trigger pulled and the end of the wire touching an earthed bench.
You only do that three times i can tell you

Stanley knifes? evil things, mine is called Sir Stanley and I always ask for him by name.
I confess to never having been heard asking out loud 'Has anybody seen Sir Stanley' when he has gone missing. He does creep up and slice people when ignored.

Welderpaul, I lurve the smell of singed skin in the morning. Does not smell like bacon mind. It's the seeing of smoke made of 'Me' is the weird bit, this is a distallation of my DNA floating about the place.

Earthed out the tig through me 2' rule the other day by accident.
Grabbed hold of it to move it. Hot hot hot!

Probably could have used me hand to measure stuff for a few days had I not let go as quick!

Well I assume it worked well, as I recon it would have made you jump

On a more serious note, keep a carefull watch on that index finger as you have burned it all the way round and I would think quite deeply too, it could turn out very nasty.
Any loss of sensation, weird colouration or the nail not 'pinking up' after ten seconds moderate pressure applied to it, then orf to A&E or the quacks.

Once I accidentally put pressure on the Pedal and the current shot thru' my Manhood down to earth
Don't think I have ever jumped so much

My bro is a safety advisor at Atkins Global: just before his 40th birthday he went skateboarding with his son. Guess which of them now has steel rods and plates in his leg...
