Identify these gnaw marks

Sadly I knew someone quite well who caught it, he was an avid inland water skier and they think it was due to ingesting lake water. He became quite ill and ended up in hospital, died some days later

Same here. Friend (about 14 at the time) caught it from swimming in the Tyne

We always had it drummed into us - keep your gob shut in the water. Better to drown than drink that.

It's present in dairy cows urine and according to the vet most puddles. It's not a brush it off type disease. It's leptospirosis in dogs and that's the jab that needs renewing each year.

I remember my dad having it late 80's ish. He was working on an upgrade in a waterworks(he was a foreman for a civil engineering company) , he was pretty ill for a good few weeks but seemed to recover ok.

The sister called by today and i heard her saying there was a dead rat on our driveway. I had given it a sweep about an hour earlier and it wasn't there then. Turns out next doors cat had arrived with it. I don't know which i hate more cats or rats. The same cat goes around ******* on anything i leave in the backyard. I made a box out of 3mm sheet to mount my pillar drill on, and left it outside, these streaks of rust kept appearing on it. Turns out its cats pee, and as i leave the door of the shed open while working, it been doing it in there too. Filthy things.

I thought the new antifreeze has something added to make it cry bitter so children and animals won't drink it.

I used to shoot on farm and it was always squirrels in the feeds.
Rats seemed to be very secondary problem in comparison.
Probably because lots of cats about but the squirrels were a right pain.

The grey squirrels are very fearless and bold, as well as aggressive towards the red squirrels. I rarely used to see a squirrel while out in the country, now i see them everywhere.

There is some footage knocking about of a grey squirrel eating a mouse size rodent. I have seen one eat a bird.

We had a grey squirrel clinging to the back wall of the house a couple of summers ago. What a vicious **********! It was screeching at me when I went to see it. Looked well fed too. Powerful. I let it go on it's way.

That's just warning others call. They do a horrendous clicking call also and that is territorial I think

We get loads of greys in the garden, every time my wife plants bulbs in the autumn, the squirrels dig them up. They also keep planting hazel nuts al over the place, so we get seedlings sprouting everywhere. Although we are near water, we've never had a rat problem. I'm surprised at this, but I was told you won't get grey squirrels & rats together, I can't think it's true though.

TBH I've never seen a rat in the 16 years we've been here. The forestry are felling trees just a stone's throw from where we are, so maybe some of the local wildlife has been disturbed and have moved down this way.

Were on the edge of the new forest, we get squirrels, four legged rats,and two legged rats that insist on a five finger discount, which could be anything from the diesel out of your tank to the spade you left in the garden....I dont like any of them !!!

theres ways and means to catch ALL VERMIN .even the 2 legged ones I cut down a load of Hawthorne bushes and dragged them along the fence :laughing:

worked even better than barbed wire and stopped scrotes coming through my garden

I have seen two live ones in the last 7 years here. First I shot second a fed a load of blue food. That doesn't mean we don't get them I have had them in my ceilings two years back and pick up odd ones in fen mk4 traps around the grounds. Even with rats in my ceiling I never saw a live one during that period. I even went out with lamp and a 410 in the evenings and still Nowt.

got lousy rats in the house again :mad:

scratting on the false ceiling :vsad:

time for action dug a row of floorboards up cut in to the false ceiling and put a few rows of bait blocks in

within half an hour could hear them dragging the blocks across the ceiling back to near the chimney breast :laughing:

alls gone quiet now so they must be having a feast il lay money on it they wont be scratting again tomorrow
