Ideas for roofing this gazebo

My wife's cousin would like me to roof thinning something other than fabric. Any ideas people. She was thinking wood and flat but I think it would look nicer kept that shape.

wood is a no i suspect that metal is only thin so wont support wood

otherwise its plyboard and torch on felt

I'd definitely keep the shape as it is. As for material, I saw someone not too long ago using aluminium decking boards to roof as pergola, looked quite good when it was finished although can't imagine it was cheap

Otherwise ask what the life expectancy of the legs are and how much does she want to pay. May be better to look at a new one.

They want it for shade mostly

Frame if designed for fabric probably not to strong for wood or heavy sheets.

How about some Rattan sheeting

Then, most cost/time effective would be to ditch the shape and go for perlins spanning the frame. Orientated/spaced to shade out a good portion of sun when it's at its hottest. A pergola.

Insulated box profile sheets would give shade and keep the heat out. Issue is making a neat job of the joints.
