Or (a bit small) it could be from a magnetic belt separator that sorts steel from non ferrous

Yep, watched a few things on the news. Got excited and bought a big magnet. First time I used it got told of by the folk on the boat, then by some fishermen.

Found a horseshoe and some bent up rebar.

Screwdrivers.
Hacksaw.

All by a bridge where a school bus drops of the herberts.

In a town near me.
A host of old Mill machine parts, sold and also donated to the museum.

Weymouth Harbour.
All sorts of WW2 gear.
