Errr, I think I'll decline that one !! It would all end in tears as it did for 2 friends of mine, 1 lost his right leg in a mad Sunday incident and another smashed his wrist in a sidecar race.
Those odds are a little marginal for my liking !
The TT is an exciting course but it truly is a widowmaker. Although I preferred it when the bikes were more interesting. TBH, even I can't tell what they are now without looking at the entry list !
Ultimate respect for anyone that races the TT. I have a mate (Brian Allflatt) that races F2, came 25th* in the TT this yr. I do his welding for him. Another mate (Chad of MCN) raced it this yr. I think he has a different outlook to anyone that races the there now.
Tigler. Have you thought of going to the Manx GP. I've been to the TT and they just pull your pants down from the cost of the ferry to the BB costs.
Where as the Manx in Sept is a totally different event. Proper machines, for you.
*only limited by his wallet, I don't charge him for any work.
Yeah, I went to the Manx once, about 10 years ago. Unfortunately it ****** down the whole time but I still enjoyed it ! Those boys racing in those conditions was a sight to see ! Whilst not being a Luddite, I just prefer to see the older stuff, better noise and looser handling ! Haven't been there for many years but my favourite circuit is Paul Ricard, endurance racing there was epic !
You guys have owned and enjoyed some serious metal, I really enjoyed reading the lists. For me nothing so impressive, I sold a Mk2 Escort 1600 Sport for a couple of hundred quid back in the early 90's . The big one was a Quattro which I sold to a mate for £4.5k, he used as a daily driver taking it to over 200k miles before scrapping it when he got a company Merc.
I still have most of my ZX1100A2 including the engine rebuilt in '99 by a local firm that built endurance racers. I used that bike to commute into London for six years or so, despite the smooth bore carbs and lumpy cam. making it almost unusable in the wet.
