Many years ago, I remember seeing what was a bicycle fork with wheel, mounted upside down on top of a wooden barstool, and was painted completely white.
It was considered as art, and had a price tag of $250,000.00

Oh, I saw that installation last time we were in the harbour when we went to Scarborough. It's part of a series I think, they had another with nets and one with lobster pots too
You can tell he's a poor artist though, he can't even afford jeans that fit.

As soon as that pile of rope is moved it is no longer the artwork that is presented. The same for any "installation" made up of individual pieces of whatever is lying about, so in my view it isn't art it's just a random pile of rubbish with a title. The bigger mugs are the ones who buy the "work" and believe the bull that the "artist " comes up with, wunch of bankers.

coming from an AV background [ at times ] and having run a production company for a long time ,,, I have seen a fair bit of this at first hand ,,,,, at the end of the day its usually not about what pile of tat is presented infront of you ,,, its about how well written the description is in the catalogue , and how much exhibition history the artist has ,,,, its a very select club and if your in your in , and if your not then you probably never will be ,,,
from what I see its a case of all make a circle ,,, and reach left ,, and give the todger on the left a little pull , and if the circle is complete ,,, everyones happy .
Watch a move called The Artist with Tony Hancock ,, its so close to the truth its unreal .
Dont get me wrong there are some exceptional artists out there ,,, but they are not stacking rope , do I see that rope as art ,,,, ask it , I did and in reply ,,, to my question
