Of course there are more variables and conditions to look at than slag peeling but it's a nice start if you don't have to beat 7 bells out of it.
just thought I might mention the slag thing cheap 6013 seem to go peeling off before you hardly finish the run (super 6 almost give up and peel once the glow is gone for instance but you also get wandering arc and inclusions at the same time) but as you correctly point out 7018 and the like usually need at least some encouragement (unless their situe creates a lift on cooling) . A few think this slag stopping on means the rod or weld isn't as good but in fact it can be the exact reverse. The way I look at it is the slag is there to do a job and I like to see a decent coverage and an easy enough release with a quick raking along its edge
