I appreciated that but generally speaking the north coast is a bit more remote than the others in my experience hence further between fuel stops.

The more remote the location, the more likely it is to have a pay at the pump 24hr option these days. I never had to carry jerry cans when I was running around the North of Scotland in petrol V8s at 11mpg in days long before pay at the pump, I'd only carry jerry cans if needing to fuel something else. No need for a second fuel tank in Scotland, extra weight to drag around and more chance of leakage.

After consideration, I think the main reason I wanted a dual tank was so I could fill up at Costco @1.289 a liter, and save a few bob rather than the £1.589 I've been told.

That's about £30 a tank difference!
Id need a fair few tankfulls to justify the £600+ for the second tank, however.

I know of a person running a dual tank LC, one for white diesel and one for red with a switch between the 2. Std dippable tank only gets the white diesel

Don't know anything about land cruiser engines and suitability, but if it's an elderly diesel is it of a suitable vintage a 2nd tank could be used for veg oil?

Well we've just bought 1500l of it for the farm...

And its still red as I put some into a can for a neighbour the other day for his shed heater!

I assume your 2 cx runs well on it too!

Unfortunately not.
Veg oil costs more than diesel round here anyway, and the market for used oil is pretty much tied up.

There's quite a few and a fair few are now pay at pump too. Just don't be stupid and deliberately run down the tank and you'll be fine. Unless you're going to spend days running around in a remote-ish spot that is.

It's not Africa and phone signal is generally very good up there now if the worst does happen.

It shot up when the Ukraine war started. I think large amounts of sunflower and rapeseed oil were produced there. I used to get it on offers at half the cost of diesel (so about 70ppl) before then.

When I first got the bookshop, (2007) I had a pre-bananananana-engined. transit. - K? reg maybe - that ran on vegoil.
Costco veg oil was £8 for 20L, BOGOF.
About a month later, it quadrupled in price to the same price as diesel.

My experience of where I'm planning to go was about 40 years ago - it was a two hour walk to the nearest shop. And that only opened one half day a week.
