Figures for first week of ownership:
252 miles, including:
A steady run to east coast and back (70ish miles each way).
A car boot sale trip (10 miles round trip)
A day driving round dewscleckhuddersfaxford picking up parts. (Balance of mileage)
Just shy of 47L of fuel - £65.
24mpg / 26p per mile at 139.9p/L
That's on a par with my last three vehicles, so I'm quite happy with that.

I currently have a 97 landcruiser prado (more or less the same as a colrado) its 3.0td with a factory intercooler that gives it an extra bit of hp. I've owned it since 2018 bought it then as abit of a project / backup vehicle I can honestly say its probably the best most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. Its got over 350,000km on it now (ive done over 100,000km) and still runs like a clock it gets abused to death tows a 16ft ifor Williams trailer most weeks and usually overloaded no problems . Things to look out for with one that age, rust on the chassis is the no.1 reason most are off the road pay particular attention to the rear section usually, cab mounts, bump stop brackets, and the chassis tend to rot up over the rear exhaust box as already mentioned rear shock mounts. All repairable with time and patience I've welded mine a few times its horrible work but usually only costs time and a few misc items so not expensive. Mechanical there very strong just look for a few things like the front control arm bushings if there badly cracked or perished simple enough job to do but can get quite expensive as there are special bolts used to set the camber angle ect allow 500/600 for that job alone. Timing belt is every 100k on those engines simple enough job but do the aux belts waterpump and fresh coolant while your at it have heard over cracked cylinder heads but I believe that's more of an issue in warmer climates ie oz but always keep clean coolant and u should be good. Definitely recommend one I thought I would have upgraded by now but I honestly don't think if I spent anther 10 or 12k I'd actually get a jeep any better. These jeeps are fetching over 5k ATM atleast in Ireland anyway everybody wants to go back to the older stuff less costly repairs.

I've just done a lower wishbone and ballpoint on my colorado, the camber bolts are reusable. Iirc it was £80 for parts and a few hours work to do.
I've done quite a lot of work on mine now as it's at 185k miles, some of it was preventive maintenance others due to the salisbury plaines and the hardest thing was changing the steering rack, even then it was only 3 hours to do.

Halfway through doing the sway bar (anti roll bar) bushings.
Plenty of life still left in these, though. Good for another 250,000 miles I think.
Getting the bolts out of the brackets was(is) an absolute nightmare. One bolt on each side is in a nasty mud collecting point and the threads were solid.
Snapped one bolt, and rounded the head of the other.
Going to have to drop the torsion bars to get access to drill them out.
