Please, nobody take offence, but these things have got to be the most boring things in existence.
There's a chap down the road from me inherited from his dad the orchard that his own bungalow sat in.
He demolished it and had built a five bedroom mansion for him and his wife. Sold six other 2 acre plots with planning for similar houses.
To the other side he sold acre extensions to peoples gardens, and the end one, an ex pub, a strip against the road that could easily fit
eight 3 bed semi's on.
At a rough guess I'd say he's now a multi millionaire.
So what does he do at the weekend?
Packs his Lister in the back of his old VW estate along with a table and two deck chairs, his flasks and Wonderloaf sandwiches and sets off
for free entry into whatever bygone / steam / car show that's on.
Sits all day by his engine with it going, boom, boom, boom, phut; boom, boom, boom, phut. Never walks round, just sits there.
Sometimes a mate joins him. He's got a smaller one that goes, woosh, woosh, woosh, pissst. Aparently that's to do with the guvnor.
At 4.30pm, packs up, goes home till next week, having not spent a ha'penny.
If ever you see me doing this...... SHOOT ME !

Then I walk round taking pictures of them, sadly I only take stills so can't capture the "boom, boom, phut" atmosphere

I've got three stationary engines, a lister JP3M, a Lister HA3, and a BMC 1.5, they're not a collection, I just can't be arsed to rebuild them.
Any spaces between them are filled in with various generator engines, that I can't be arsed to fix either.

If they are similar to most india copies, of things ------- hemorrhoids might have been a better name, as their copies are usually, a pain in the aspidistra.
Good old listers------ rev em up in the morning and the fly wheels keep em going till dinner------- with the fuel shut off.

It's a big blade, 600mm dia, it will need a few horses. I think a 6/1 might do. The 8/1 your boss has sounds better
Really need to find out what the saw blade needs RPM/HP wise (linky to question in the brew room)

The Indian copies would be far more expensive than an originals which are common in the UK. They imported them to the USA for off grid generators, but the quality is varied, the worst had casting sand in the sump, everything bored out of line, fuel pipes bent by hand, cracks, and voids in the castings, and way out timing. The importer had to specify that they were not test run at the factory due to the sand in the bearings, and they fully rebuilt them in the USA, rejecting out of spec parts. All the Listeroids have ball bearings instead of the original white metal.
They do run on preheated veg oil quite happily though, if you can get it.

i read good reports about the indian version once it had been tinkered with, i think they eventually upped ther game a little and they got better

Lots of spares are available , and they sell for a couple of hundred on eBay , so it would never be worth importing an Indian copy to the UK. The quality of the originals will always be far better than India can ever achieve.

Exactly. That's what I do. I was just jesting at the expense of the folks that sit for hours at the rallies been studied by passers by.but surely in that case you wouldn't go and sit there
